Youth With a Mission Chennai consists of over 16 different YWAM
ministries in different parts of Chennai (Madras). These include
two English Discipleship training Schools (DTS), A Tamil DTS,
the School of Evangelism and Pioneering (SOEP), An Evening Discipleship
Training Program (EDTP) conducted in churches, YWAM Publishing
selling Christian books and tapes, Neighbors ministry, ministry
to AIDS/HIV+ patients, people group research, the Asha Kendra
Christian School, Kings Kids, Rescue and Restore School, ministry
to street children, mercy ministries, slum ministry, leprosy ministry,
church ministry, day care ministry, evangelistic coffeehouses,
fishermens village ministries, University ministries, and more

Work among street
dweller children in Calcutta under the leadership of Lochumlo
Odyuo (drop-in center, feeding, health care and hygiene, literacy,
sharing the good news).
Night shelter and drop-in center for the children who live under
the the railway bridge in Okhla, New Delhi under the leadership
of Victoria Joute (drop-in center, feeding, health care and hygiene,
literacy, sharing the good news, night shelter for homeless boys
to bring them away from the street into the safety of a house
to protect them from molestation, yearly camps for the children
and outreach to the parents with church planting and literacy).
Childrens’ homes for children from the streets in Chennai
under the leadership of Daisy
and Freddy Paul. (one home for girls, one home for boys plus
ongoing ministry around the main train station in Chennai with
health care and counseling for children and their parents)

Street
children and children at risk ministries in Kolkata Including
outreach in slum areas, literacy programs, vocational training,
and Bible study, also training young people in India to reach
out to children at risk.

Mary’s has 156 years of history. It is an orphanage run
by the congregation of Christian brothers in India. They have
numerous vocational and academic streams to holistically cater
to children with emotional, economic stressful situations. Educational
programs include work experience, training in investment, environmental
education and other time relevant programs. They have computers,
a bakery, a mushroom farm and gardens. They prepare students to
earn their own livelihood. Basketball and other athletic coaching
is also available. Students are prepared for academic exams.
